Richard Rick' Bailey, age 65, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born on November 21, 1946 to the late Truman and Ruth Vida Elkins Bailey. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Dennis Bailey; a niece, Tracie Bailey and a nephew, Timmy Wayne Bailey. Rick enjoyed playing bass and was a member of the Gloryroad Singers. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Rick is survived by his wife, Linda Bailey; daughters: Gena Vasquez of NC and MaLaura Dugger and husband Michael of Mountain City, TN; sons: Desmond Canterbury of NC, David Allen Ferguson of VA and Steven Edward Ferguson, also of VA; sister, Janice Wilson of VA; twelve grandchildren; three nephews and one niece and several very special friends. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with a Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Dwayne Dickson to officiate. Military Honors will follow at the funeral home and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard The family respectfully requests no flowers and that any memorial contributions be made to the family at 8107 Hwy 91 N., Lot 1, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.
