Howard "Hoover" Phipps, age 82, of Trade, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at his residence. He was born on September 12, 1929 in Trade to the late Elza and Hazel Wilson Phipps. Hoover was a United States Army Veteran and served in Korea. He worked in the Johnson County School System at the Trade school and was also a farmer. Hoover was a 50 year Mason and a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Wells, Georgia Thomas, Earleen Bumgardner and Sue Phipps; four brothers: Clyde, Clay, Bob and Mack Phipps; sister-in-law, Dora Love and brother-in-law, Helton Wilson. Hoover is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ollie Jean Miller Phipps; sons and daughters-in-law: Freddy and Diane Phipps and Jimmy and Debbie Phipps, both of Trade, TN; sister, Jean Stout of Mountain Cit, TN; grandchildren: Jessica Phipps, Tiffany McDaniel and husband Mark, Wendy Clifton and husband Eric, Shana Atwood and husband Austin, Brittany Phipps and Austin Phipps; great grandchildren: Isabella Phipps, Jackson Clifton, Ansley Clifton, Elsie Clifton, Abigail McDaniel, Amelia McDaniel, Carter Atwood and Blake Atwood; sisters-in-law, Barbara M Wilson, Rebecca M. Wagner and Betty Phipps; brother-in-law, Earl Bumgardner; several nieces and nephews and many friends. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9. 2012 at Zionville Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Carl Johnson to officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be: Austin Phipps, Eric Clifton, Mark McDaniel, Austin Atwood, Jody Bumgardner, Larry Wells, Jeff Wagner, Wayne Wilson, David Bumgardner, Gary Bumgardner, Eddie Thomas, Rick Bumgardner and Wilson Phipps.
