Millard Garr M.G.' Hodge, age 96, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the James H. Quillen VA Nursing Home. He was born on October 4, 1915 to the late Abraham Lincoln Link' Hodge and Clara Snyder Hodge. In addition to his parents, Garr was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Price; sisters: Faye Hodge, Venia Hodge and Pauline Morris; brothers: Sam Hodge and Lester Hodge. Garr owned and operated a Taxi Cab Service and Stand in Mountain City. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1939, where he honorable served as an Aviation Chief Machinist. Garr was a member of First Christian Church. He is survived by his companion and friend of many years, Annie Miller of the home; sisters: Bessie Hagy of Bristol, TN and Shirley Farmer of Concord, NC; grandchildren: Steve McCoy of Mountain City, TN and Mitchell Lowe of Katy, TX; two great grandchildren: Sarah and Sophia Lowe of TX and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from the First Christian Church with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dwayne Dickson and Ken Caswell to officiate. Music will be provided by Starla Brooks and the First Christian Church Choir. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will follow at Philippi Cemetery and will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard, who will also serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Men's Joy Sunday School Class at First Christian Church. Honorary Ministers will be Buddy Zuercher, Richard Moorhouse and Jim Hutchinson.
