Jesse Willard Ward

Jesse Willard Ward, age 84, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on May 3, 1927 to the late Moses Parks and Della Ward. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Fowler; brothers: Frank, Bob, Grover, Ben, Troy, Lonnie and Homer Ward and a grandchild, Oliver Ryan Ward. Jesse loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening and taking walks. He also enjoyed swinging on his porch swing. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Louise Lockner Ward; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte Marie and Kenith Ryan of Johnson City, TN; two sons and daughter-in-law: Jeffrey Lowell Ward of Kingsport, TN and Michael Lynn and Darcy Ward of Mount Ulla, NC; sister, Barbara Stout and husband Alan of Poga, TN; brother, Herb Ward of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Anton Corinthian Hodge, Adrian Rayjean Ward and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Jones to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery of Sugar Grove, North Carolina. Family and Friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. on Friday. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 6658 Hwy 321, Butler, TN 37640.
