Shirley Eastridge Pope Shirley Eastridge Pope, age 73, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Boone, North Carolina. She was born on June 12, 1938 to the late Luther and Annie (Osborne) Eastridge. Shirley loved to quilt and sew and made beautiful quilts that her family will treasure. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Pope; daughters and sons-in-law: Janice Carol Pope Mahala and Ron of Ashe County, NC, Teresa Darlene Pope King and David of Knoxville, TN and Brenda Annette Pope Philhower and Cliff of Elkton, MD; sons and daughters-in-law: Anthony Floyd Pope and Peggy of Trade, TN, James Dale Pope and Elizabeth Christine of Mountain City, TN and Alexander Drew Pope and Virginia of Mountain City, TN; One son-in-law; Kenneth E. Roark, Jr. of Greenville, TN; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one niece, Joann Gilley of Elkton, MD; special friends: Nelson and Betty Leiser. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Billy Morefield and David Benfield to officiate. Music will be under the direction of J.D. Jones. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Pope Family Cemetery, Sprucey Lane, Mountain City, TN. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. A meal will be served at the Welcome Center (downstairs) following the graveside for family and friends. Memorials may be made in Shirley's memory to the Seby B. Jones Cancer Center, PO Box 2570, Boone, NC 28607.
