Thomas Scott Young, Sr.

Thomas Scott Young, Sr., age 70, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2012 at his residence. He was born on December 17, 1941 to the late Willie Norman Young and Ethel Mae Clark Young. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a sister, Dot Sulinski and a brother, Walter Gray Young. Thomas loved working outside and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed having and going to yard sales. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Janie Madden Young; daughters and sons-in-law: Mary and Claude Shearin Jr. of Mountain City, TN and Brenda and Dave Nevin of Ireland; sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas Scott and Debbie Young, Jr. Wilson, NC and Robert Lee and Jennifer Young of Mountain City, TN; sister, Christine Felts and husband Willie of Littleton, NC; brothers: Loyd Young of Annadale, VA, Harry Lee Young and wife Ellen of Durham, NC and Daniel Young and wife Debbie of Littleton, NC; grandchildren: Dustin Shearin and wife Jessica, Amanda Shearin, Christin Hamlet, Stephen Hamlet, Julian Matthew Scott Young, Jeffrey Hamlet, Cody Young, Tiffany Young, Skylar Young, Alex Young, Melissa Peterson and husband Jody, Brenda Poythress and Ashley Moye; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Icenhour officiating. Music will be provided by Kerry Gentry. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park of Damascus, VA. Pallbearers will be Dustin Shearin, Cody Young, Julian Matthew Scott Young, Mark Roark, Lonnie Denney and Benjamin Denney. Honorary pallbearers are: David Nevin, Alex Young, Edward Pendergrass, Doyle Roark, and Dr. Mark Davis.
