David Spencer May, age 71, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born on October 29, 1940 in Johnson County Tn; to the late Stacy and Carrie Woodards May. In addition to his parents, Spencer was preceded in death by an infant sister, Verdie Arlene May; infant brother, William Glen Chamer May and brother, Roger May. Spencer had lived in Lexington, North Carolina for 45 years. He loved to drive a truck and while living in Lexington, he worked for 28 years at Billings Freight System. Spencer also drove for Teamsters #391 of Kernersville, NC for 30 years. He was a member of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church. Spencer was an avid race fan. He was a wonderful, caring and loving father and will greatly be missed. Spencer is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah Karen Bourguet and husband Pat of Thomasville, NC and Laura Lea Porter and husband Ray of Salisbury, NC; sons: David Chris May and Debbie of Thomasville, NC and Johnnie Preston May of Charlotte, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Earlene Bryant and husband Burl of Mountain City, TN; brothers and sister-in-law, Michael May and wife Ora, Wallie May and Shonnie and Lennie May and Debbie, all of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Allison Bourguet and Daniel Bourguet, both of Thomasville, NC and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Nelson Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Denney to officiate. Burial will follow from the May Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Spencer's son, Johnnie May, his sons-in-law; Ray Porter and Pat Bourguet, his grandson, Daniel Bourguet and Stacy May, Cody May, Scotty May. . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Spencer's memory to David May, 920 Alice Drive, Thomasville, NC 27360 to go towards a memorial monument. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Wallie May and Shonnie for all of their kindness and care given to Spencer.
