Charlotte R. Hartley, age 81, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on September 28, 1930 to the late John A. Hartley and Ruth Smith Hartley. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by a brother, Sherman Hartley. Charlotte received her Masters in education from University of Tennessee. Following her teaching career, she enjoyed bird watching, working in her vegetable and flower gardens and cooking. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she taught the Women's Sunday School Class for many years. Charlotte is survived by her sister, Clara White; several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery in Hampton, Tennessee. Pallbearers are Ken Tolliver, Joe Hartley, Brian Hartley, Danny Spears, Doug Hartley, Neil Hartley and Jason Hartley. Family and Friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Howard and Rev. Dean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
