Susan Maria Sparger, 46, of San Diego, California, passed away May 5, 2012 after a long illness. She was born Oct. 31, 1965 in Bristol, Tennessee, the daughter of Donald R. Sparger (Shady Valley, Tennessee) and Nancy Loggans Hoxel (San Diego, California). In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Melinda S. Smith; brother Timothy B. Sparger; step-mother, Jean K. Sparger; her finance, Daniel Casena; step-sisters: Kerry Cashion, Amy Lashlee, Jennifer Godsey, Kim Ollis, and step-brothers: Donald Bradley and Mark Fogelman. Ms. Sparger was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Edwin Sparger. Susan was educated in the Bristol Tennessee school system, attended Virginia Highlands Community College and graduated from San Diego Mesa College with a degree in hotel management. Employment included serving as the dining room manager for Loews' Coronado Bay Resort. She was an avid LA Lakers fan and enjoyed many motorcycle ventures and travels with her finance. A memorial service for Susan will be held in San Diego and an internment service will be conducted on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Blevins Cemetery, Shady Valley, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her father, Don Sparger, 237 Pine Lane, Shady Valley, TN 37688.
