Johnie Glenn Trivette, age 73, of Mountain City, passed away at his home on Monday, May 21, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 4, 1939 to the late Clyde James and Sally Ethel Martin Trivette. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his sisters: Wilma Trivette Walsh and Margie Trivette Taylor; a niece, Shirley Walsh Cook and brothers-in-law: Wade Taylor, Dana Walsh, Luther Rupard and Sam Taylor. Glenn retired from Appalachian State University following 25 years of service. He enjoyed walking in the mountains and searching for ginseng. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, who was his pride and joy. Glenn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cathleen Kitty' Trivette; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Grace and John E. Hampton Jr. of Mountain City, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Larry W. and Linda Trivette of Mountain City, TN; sisters: Irene Taylor of Mountain City, TN and Gladys Rupard of Laurel Bloomery, TN; brothers: Ted Trivette Sr. and Earl Trivette, both of Mountain City, TN; brother-in-law, Paul and wife Louise Osborne of Frederick, MD; granddaughter, Hannah Noel Hampton; several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastors Steven Spencer, and Coy Proffitt to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 from the Reece Memorial Cemetery, located on Liberty Church Road, Mountain City, TN. Active pallbearers are: Ted Trivette Jr, Gary Trivette, Jim Walsh, Bill Taylor, Mike Taylor, Benny Rupard and Jim Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Men's Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Glenn's memory may be made to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group, c/o Flo Bellamy, 3510 Hwy 421 N., Mountain City, TN 37683. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 444 Trivett Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
