Deck Ward

Deck Ward, age 68, of Mountain City, TN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was born on September 28, 1943 to the late Florence Harmon Proffitt. In addition to his mother, Deck was preceded in death by his stepfather, Sanford Proffitt; a sister, Martha Smith and two brothers: Billy Jack Ward and Ray Ward. Deck enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, working around the house and cooking. He was a member of the Victory Chapel Cowboy Church. Deck is survived by his loving wife of 6 ½ years, Judy Harper Ward; brothers: Sanford Proffitt Jr. and wife Teresa of Marcellus, Michigan and Terry Proffitt and wife Anita of Bristol, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. It was Deck's wishes that no visitation or funeral service be conducted. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012 from the Harmon Family Cemetery (Sink Valley Road), Butler, TN with Minister Carroll Hayworth to officiate. Pallbearers will be Bobby Harper, Lance Proffitt, Sanford Proffitt Jr., Terry Proffitt, Ed Fox and Willie DeBord. Honorary Pallbearers are members and staff of the Johnson County Rescue Squad and the Johnson County Community Hospital.
