Fred Ashley Fred Ashley, age 64, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Select Specialty Hospital of Bristol, TN following a lengthy illness and a courageous battle with COPD and emphysema. He was born on October 21, 1947 to the late Dick Edward and Marjorie Ella Spivey Ashley. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by sisters: Ruth Mae Ashley, Dorothy Carr and Betty Pierce; brothers: Lewis Ashley and Joseph Ashley; three brothers-in-law: Qualls Carr, Richard Phillips and John Shelton. Fred was a member of Berea Baptist Church. He was a humble, loving and wonderful Christian man who prayed and read his Bible every day. He loved his family and prayed for them and everyone. Fred enjoyed Nascar and having cookouts with his family and friends. Before his illness, he truly enjoyed driving his tractor and trailer across the states. But most of all he loved the Lord and never lost his faith in Him, even the days he felt the worst. Fred always believed "With God, all things are possible" Fred is survived by two daughters: Shelia Kennedy and her children, Callie Howell and Brandon Ashley, of Butler, TN and Angela Cross and her children, Tyler, Lucas and Henry, of Mountain City, TN; one son, Rodney Ashley and his children, Noah, Levi, Aiden, of Ohio; sisters: Thelma Phillips, Shirley Shelton, Rosie Click and husband Andy, all of Mountain City, TN and Margaret Miller and husband Bernard Miller, who were not only Fred's sister and brother-in-law, but loyal and dedicated caregivers who made sure that Fred had everything he needed and gave him the best possible care that they knew how to give, also of Mountain City, TN; several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many special friends, whom loved Fred dearly and will miss him greatly. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Minister C.D. Bud' Gentry and Rev. Gary Hill officiating. Graveside Service & Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from the Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Fred's memory to the American Lung Association, PO Box 415, Sandusky, OH 44871-0415. The family will also receive friends at the home of Margaret Miller, 4240 Hwy 67 W., Mountain City, TN 37683 Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.mountaincityfh.com.
