James ( Bill ) Shull

James W. "Bill" Shull, age 81, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away at his home on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Bill was born on April 3, 1931 to the late Hal Shull and Grayce Robinson Shull. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Bill was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. In addition to his parents Bill is preceded in death by his brother Bob Shull and his wife Naomi Shull and a brother-in-law Horace Hamm. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma Maze Shull; daughter, Mary Shull Visser and husband Jan; son, John Shull and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Jennifer Dickens and husband Daniel, Aaron Shull, Eric Townsend and wife Stephanie and Julian Visser; great grandchildren, Eli Dickens, Abby Dickens and Karleigh Townsend; sisters Eloise Newman and husband Willie of Louden, TN and Eugenia Hamm of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August, 14, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Penley and Rev. Rick Thomason to officiate. Music will be provided by Phil Arnold. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Pine Grove (Brown) Cemetery in Neva. Pallbearers will be Aaron Shull, Julian Visser, Eric Townsend, Daniel Dickens, Chuck Maze, Eddie Phillips, Steve Hartzog, and Ed Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Bartlett, Herb Arnold, Sam Cress, Dale Phillips, Junior Potter and Mike Wills. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group c/o Flo Bellamy, 3510 Hwy 421 N., Mountain City, TN 37683 or Seby Jones Cancer Center, 182 Virginia St., Boone, NC 28607. The family expresses special thanks to Kristy Maze of Amedisys Home Health, Mountain City, TN and to Jennifer Dickens.
