Donald G. Kennard, Sr. of Palatka, FL, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he resided in Palatka since 1980 moving there from Brooksville, FL. Mr. Kennard was a U. S. Navy veteran. He had worked as a supervisor of manufacturing with Price Brothers in Palatka and had also worked with Interface, Inc. Pipe Company. As his hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking, antique cars and was an avid NASCAR fan. Mr. Kennard was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Jean Kennard of Palatka, two sons, Donald G. Kennard, Jr. and wife Teresa of Palatka and Blakely Kennard and wife Sherry of Satsuma, FL; a daughter, Sharon Young and husband Bruce of Belair, MD; six grandchildren, Michael Kennard, Matthew Kennard and wife Natalie, Megan Kennard, Jennifer Wetnight, Kimberly Ginneman and husband Robert and Amanda Kennard and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Standiford, Morgan Standiford and David Luke Wetnight. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ricky Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Acre Field Cemetery in Laurel Bloomery, TN. Pallbearers are: Bruce Young, Ron Robert Ginneman, David Luke Wetnight, Matthew Kennard, Brandon Standiford, Ken Phipps.
