James J.C.' Crowder, age 89, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, September 14, 2012. He was born on August 11, 1923 to the late Wiley and Pearl Moretz Crowder. In addition to his parents, J.C. was preceded in death by his sisters: Pearl Warren, Leah Moretz, Blanche Dennison, Thelma Campbell, Ruby Crowder and Jenny Keene and brothers: Ralph Crowder, Roger Crowder and Edgar Crowder. J.C. loved the outdoors and farmed for many years. He loved to hunt, especially coon hunting and enjoyed sports in general, but in his recent years, golf was his favorite. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. J.C. was a United States Navy Veteran. J.C. is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Maxwell Crowder; four daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Larry Wilson of Mountain City, TN, Phyllis and Steve Redden of Morristown, TN, Patricia and Randy Blevins of Mountain City, TN and Susan and Randy Simcox, also of Mountain City, TN; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jimmy and Michele Crowder of Mountain City, TN and Randy and Clarice Crowder of Laurel Bloomery, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law: Edith and Karl Cornett and Gladys and Wade Campbell; brother and sister-in-law, Wiley and Hazel Crowder; grandchildren: Amy Gillespie, Jeff Wilson, Craig Cornett, Dwayne Cornett, Tiffany Harris, Caitlin Simcox, Ethan Simcox, Ella Simcox, Cameron Crowder, Mikey Furches, Jaycee Blevins, A.J. Blevins, Abby Blevins, Christine Carter, Leslie Saults; twelve great grandchildren; special friend, Karl Cornett; special caregivers: Violet Morefield and Sue Neely; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastors Tom Prater and Michael Icenhour officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Kerry Gentry. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will follow from the Sunset Memorial Park and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be: Craig Cornett, Dwayne Cornett, Ron Carter, Mike Gillespie, Mikey Furches and A.J. Blevins. Honorary pallbearers are J.C.'s nephews, Jeff Wilson, Dr. Robert Griffith and Dr. John Whitlock.
