Dorothy Mae Brown

Dorothy Mae Brown, age 71, of West Jefferson, NC and formerly of Mountain City, TN, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. She was born on March 10, 1941 to the late Sam and Blanche Curr Arnold. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Howard Brown; a son, James Ray Brown and several sisters and brothers. Dorothy loved to read her bible, garden, collect dolls and portraits, especially of Jesus. She also loved to watch television, especially wrestling and enjoyed reading romance novels. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon Annette Woodards of Mountain City, TN; sons: Gary Brown and wife Sarah of West Jefferson, NC and Michael William Brown; sister, Mary of Rockville, MD; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; special friends: Lola Arnold and Sheena Canter and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 from the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Ricky Campbell to officiate. Graveside Service & Interment will follow from the Johnson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Price, Bobby Brian and Hope Dunn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
