Tara Lynn Griffith

Tara Lynn Griffith, age 40, of Kernersville, NC passed away on October 2, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Mark Griffith, also of Kernersville, NC. Together they began raising two wonderful children who inherited her smile and sensitive, caring nature. Tara was born in Delaware on February 11, 1972 and grew up in Kirkwood, PA. She was the daughter of Nancy Brooks. Tara married Mark on May 8, 1999 and they lived in various cities on the east coast before moving to NC. Tara worked as an office manager before having the first of her two children in 2003. At that time they made the decision for Tara to stay at home and raise their children. Tara was an incredible and brave soul who seemed to make an impact on everyone she met. Her welcoming smile put anyone at ease and she always made it a point to make everyone feel comfortable in her home. She was a most kind and selfless person who was adored by everyone who knew her. Most of all she simply enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She will truly be missed. She had countless friends that she met along her journey and touched each of them in some way. Besides her husband, Mark, Tara leaves her daughter, Carly (8), and her son Connor (7), mother Nancy Brooks, sister Erin Church, brother Jeff Brooks and brother-in-law Richard Church. Tara also leaves behind her beloved niece, Aynslee Church and nephew Xander Church, as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins and many very close friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Jamie Vaughn officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Friday, October 5, at the funeral home and also from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from the Phillippi Cemetery in Mountain City, TN. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
