Theodore A. 'Ted' Shores

Theodore A. "Ted" Shores, age 74, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on February 8, 1938 to the late Charlie Gilbert and Ella Maggie Bolden Shores. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers. In 1957 Ted joined the United States Air Force and also served during Vietnam. Ted honorably retired from the military with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, following 20 years of service. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed going fishing. Ted also enjoyed collecting knives. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. Ted was a devout Christian and loved to talk about Jesus. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy Carol Shores, sisters: Felicia Ward of Mountain City, TN, Dora Walker of Bristol, VA, Hassie Mitchell of Ocean City, MD, Lone Victor of Sun Valley, NV; several nieces and nephews, his church family and many special friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell and Evangelist Johnny Wilson to officiate. Music will be provided by Ms. Wanda Wilson. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from the Mast Cemetery (Neva Community/Big Dry Run Road) and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be the Men of Good News Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ted's memory to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683 or the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 421 W. Main Street, Mountain City, TN 37683. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 1398 Harbin Hill Road, Mountain City, TN.
