Blanche Ward

Blanche Belle Ward, age 97, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was a life-long resident of Johnson County, the daughter of the late John and Mattie Courtner. In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Wade Ward; three sisters, two brothers and two nephews. Blanche was a member of Liberty Christian Church and a former employee of Blue Ridge Shoe Company. She is survived by her brother, James Courtner and wife Mary of Hudson, NC; two daughters: Mary Miller of Mountain City, TN and Carolyn Hemming of Jefferson, NC; a son, Eddie Ward and wife Wanda of Jonesborough, TN; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012 from the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Denton Hart and Steven Spencer to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside Service and Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery (behind Pine Grove Baptist Church). Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the caregivers of Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center, Caris Hospice and Dr. James Shine and staff for the loving care provided to Blanche. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials in Blanche's memory be made to the Johnson County Emergency Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
