Martha Stalcup Stout

Martha Stalcup Stout, age 83, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Mountain City Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Virgie Mae Wilson Stalcup. Martha was a graduate of Johnson County High School and attended Business College. She was employed as a Secretary at Tri State Growers of Mountain City for over 30 years. She was a member and former Worthy Matron of Butler Chapter #218 Order of the Eastern Star. Martha was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church, where she had also been a member of the Church Choir for several years and was active in the WMU. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband Fred W. Stout, who passed away on February 12, 2011; two sisters: Opal Nave and Wanda Long and a brother, A.J. Stalcup. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Carol Stout of Butler, TN; grandsons: Chad Stout and wife Nikki and Cody Stout and his friend, Haley Pleasant, all of Butler, TN; a great grandson, Gavin Stout; two nephews; four nieces; two sisters-in-law: Nannie Vaught of Mountain City, TN and Margaret Stalcup of Gray, TN. A service to celebrate the life of Martha Stout will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Little Doe Baptist Church with Rev. Kreg Smith and Rev. Frank Johnson officiating. Music will be provided by the Church Choir and Becky Arnold, soloist. The Butler Chapter #218 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a Memorial Service following the funeral service at the church. Entombment Services will follow at the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be the Deacons of Little Doe Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers are Fred Crowe, Mack Matherly, Paul Lowe, Pat Conville and Glen Shupe. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service. For those who wish, memorials in Martha's memory may be made to the Little Doe Baptist Church Building Fund, 323 Doe Creek Road, Butler, TN 37640. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Tony and Carol Stout, 488 Pine Orchard Road, Butler, TN 37640. The family would like to express a special Thank You' to Martha's caregivers: Carolyn Bunten, Denise Norris and the Staff of Mountain City Care Center. Memorial Funeral Chapel of Elizabethton, Tennessee is in charge of the arrangements for Martha Stout.
