Mary V. Reece

Mary V. Reece, age 82, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born August 14, 1930 in Ashe County NC to the late Abe Jones and Sibby Wyatt Jones. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her husband Earl R. Reece, one sister and three brothers. Mary liked gardening, her flowers and quilting. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Locust Gap Freewill Baptist Church. Mary is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy Pope and husband Robert D. of Creston, NC and Deena Nichols and husband Larry of Mountain City, TN; son Mitchell Hayter of Virginia; grandchildren, Sherette Cline, Sonja Church, Angela Surber, Robert Frye, Christopher Wright, Joni Banks, Michael Nichols, Mary Hayter, Pam Hayter, Deena Hayter and Mitchell Hayter, Jr.; fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a special nephew Roger Jones and wife Dorie. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday February 25, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Shannon Courtner to officiate. Graveside service and interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 26, 2013 from the Reece Cemetery on Whaley Town Rd. Butler, TN. The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. John Whitlock, Daniel Jones, PA and the staff of the Mountain City Care Center and to the staff of Caris Hospice.
