Bonnie Mae Carver Brookshire, age 100, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013. She was born on October 15, 1912 to the late Elijah and Nancy Carver Davis. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Stacy Brookshire, who passed away November 21, 1950; daughter, Janet Sue, who passed away on May 7, 1937; daughter-in-law, Myrtle Brookshire and a son-in-law, Wallace Garrick. Bonnie lived a long, full-filling life and saw a lot of changes in this world. She was a hard worker and when she was very young, she worked for several years at the Rayon Mill and Bemberg of Elizabethton. She married Samuel Stacy Brookshire when she was 21 and they had five children. She worked several years for the Johnson County School Board before moving to Miami, FL where she worked for 20 years for the Dade County School Board. Upon retiring, she received a special Certificate of Appreciation. Bonnie enjoyed working outside in her flower and vegetable gardens, canning and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Bonnie was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed a special relationship with her Heavenly Father. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Brookshire Garrick of Mountain City, TN; sons and daughters-in-law: Bill and Marie Brookshire of Mountain City, TN, Jack and Louise Brookshire of Port Deposit, MD and Richard and Lillian Brookshire of Boone, NC; grandchildren: Teresa Sillstrop and husband Ted of Greenville, SC, Bonnie Reece and husband Chris of Mountain City, TN, Ricky Brookshire and wife Ginny of Boone, NC, Jennifer Brookshire of Boone, NC, Christie Moll and husband Floris of Brevard, NC, Holly Brookshire of Brevard, NC, Scott Brookshire of Port Deposit, MD, Vicki Simpson and husband Charles of Port Deposit, MD; Alice Lichtenstein and husband Richard of Sarasota, FL; great grandchildren: Jocelyn DuVal, Melissa and Meredith Lichtenstein, Levi Brookshire and Chantelle Moll; step grandchildren: Steve Powell, Pepper and husband Tom Dedrick, Jack Dedrick and Anna Marie Dedrick; niece, Carolyn Wolfe; great niece, Haylee Wolfe; special family members: June Milligon of Marion, NC, Robert O'Dell of Charlotte, NC, Martha Robinson of New Castle, PA, Callie Stewart of Oceanside, CA and Jackie Warden of Mountain City, TN; special friends: Dora Loggins, Betty Plummer and Joan Arnold; many more special friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Ministers Bill Reece, Frank Ransom and Harry Wills to officiate. Special music will be provided. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the Brookshire Cemetery, Campbell Road, Mountain City, TN. Pallbearers are Brad Dunn, Brad Reece, Robert Wills, Truett Pleasant, John Brookshire and Tommy Greene. Honorary Pallbearers are Rubin Stout, Larry Wilson, Bill Church, Harry Wills, Porter Stout, Paul Dunn, David Wilson, Bernie Keele, Dan Hammons, Tommy Worley, Blackie Blevins and Glendell (Jim) Norris. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 155 Furnace Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
