Coretta Lyle Proffitt

Coretta Lyle Proffitt, age 58, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 21, 1955 in Mountain City to the late Dewey E. Brown and Martha (Addie ) E. Moore Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Tommy George Brown, Billy Jack Brown and Lonnie Olan "Possum" Brown. Coretta was an avid animal lover and collected deer memorabilia. She is survived by one son, Steven Roark and wife Debbie of Mountain City, TN; one sister, Nellie Brown; four brothers: Donald Lee Brown, Rocky Brown and wife Debbie , all of Mountain City, TN, Ed Brown and wife Marie of Kingsport, TN, and Coleman Brown and special friend June Thomas of Mountain City, TN; two grandchildren: Gregory Jones and Jennifer Jones Durrett; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Durrett and Joseph Durrett; special friends, Stephanie Jones, Nancy Beesley, Heather Miller, Mandy Ward and Meghan, Kim Cline, Skippy and Peanut; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 6-8:00 p.m.at Mountain City Funeral Home with a Memorial Service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Shannon Courtner to officiate. Special music will be provided by Stephanie Jones. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of her brother Rocky Brown, 282 Reece Hill Rd., Mountain City, TN 37683. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johnson County Humane Society, 4125 Pine Orchard Road, Butler, TN 37640. The family would like to give a special thanks to Mountain States Health Alliance Home Health for their kindness during Mrs. Proffitt's illness.
