Charles H. Zwergel, age 69, of Mountain City, TN and formerly of Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 5, 1943 in Edgerton, Wisconsin to the late Henry Willard Zwergel and Helen Anna Emelia Klemp Zwergel. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Eckert. Charles retired in 1996 after 30 years of service as a police officer. He enjoyed bowling and being outdoors, especially playing golf, hunting, boating and fishing. Charles also enjoyed working with his hands and building various things. Charles was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Edgerton, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife, Gail Zwergel; daughters and sons-in-law: Kim and John Trinkle, Dodie and Michael Petitt, Stephanie Hessler, Melanie Zwergel, Brad Zwergel and Amber Rohde; sons, Brad Zwergel and Edward Rohde; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and RT Smith; grandchildren: Rebecca and Bret Trinkle, Benjamin, Angela, Nathaniel and Christopher Hessler, Madeline Zwergel, Noah and Faith Petitt, Matthew Rohde and Jonathan Frank; nieces: Kelly Kinyon and Nicky Krause; nephews: Jason Kravik and Nathan Smith and many, many friends. The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the VFW, located on Cottages Grove Road, Madison, Wisconsin.
