Everett E. (Eddie) Rice Everett E. (Eddie) Rice, age 69, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord at his residence, surrounded by his family, on Friday, May 17, 2013. Eddie was born on October 10, 1943 in Asheville, North Carolina, to the late Fulty Rice and Lucy M. Wilson Rice. He retired with 21 years of service in the U.S. Army, and also retired after 22 years of service as a dispatcher with the Johnson County Sheriff's Department. Eddie was a member of VFW Post 6908 and served with the Johnson County Honor Guard. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents Eddie was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Connors and brothers, Harold Rice and James Rice and his mother & father-in-law Anna (Cotton) Tester and Jack Tester. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara Tester Rice; daughters, Vicki Phillips and husband Roy of Mountain City and Tiffany Kimery and husband Keith of Mountain City; grandchildren, Jessica Osborne and husband Brandon, Joshua Phillips and wife Schasta, Aaron Woods and fiancé Tiffany and Stephen Woods; great grandchildren, Shae Phillips, Katelyn Osborne, Kyler Osborne and Ava Phillips; brothers, Jerry Rice and wife Vicky of Asheville, NC, Terry Rice and wife Barbara of Powahatan, VA, Joe Rice and wife Anzie of Asheville, NC and Billy Rice of Asheville, NC; sisters & brothers-in-laws ,James Connors, Gene Tester and wife Lorene of Gray, TN, Carol Phillips and husband David, Tom Tester and wife Teresa and Bill Tester and girlfriend Gina, all of Mountain City; special friends, Roy Rodgers and his family and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service for Eddie will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 20th, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Norman officiating. Music will be provided by the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Choir. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park and Military Rites will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Roger Gentry, Ronnie Lowe, Bobbie Lowe, Chris Dunn, Eddie Tester and Terry Reece. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Osborne, Johnny Roberts, Terry Gregg and all the members of the Johnson County Honor Guard.
