Julia Branson Mahala, 70, of Mountain City, passed away June 10, 2013 at Life Care of Elizabethton. She was born April 12, 1943 in Bristol, TN to the late John Henry Branson and Mollie K. Branson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers. Julia loved her family and will be truly missed. She attended Nelson Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Shelton Mahala; daughter, Letitia Boyd and husband Ken of Tabor City, NC; sons, Shelton Eugene Mahala and wife Ellen of Lenoir, NC and Stephen Mahala of the home; sisters, Ida Perry and husband Teddy and Sarah Elizabeth Price, both of Bristol, TN; brother, John Branson and wife Annie of Bristol, TN; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 from the Nelson Chapel Baptist Church (in the old sanctuary) with Pastor Lonnie Denney and Pastor Sam Icenhour to officiate. The family will also receive friends at the home, 167 Cressview Road, Mountain City.
