Lon D. Greenwell

Paw Lon D. Greenwell, age 68, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was born on February 20, 1945 to the late Dewey and Roxie Jane Cowan Greenwell. In addition to his parents, Lon was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Swafford and Margaret Cardena; brothers, Bruce, Carl, Bob, Haggie and James Greenwell. Lon retired from Thomasville Furniture of Lenoir, NC following 20 years of service. He was of the Baptist Faith. Lon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Greenwell; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Jeremy Walsh; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Tracy Greenwell, all of Mountain City, TN; sisters: Shirley Ainsworth of Chicago, IL; Jane Ward, Betty Payne, Gerleen Dugger and twin sister, Lois Guy, all of Butler, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Gervis Shorty' and Mollie Greenwell, of Butler, TN; brothers-in-law, Joe Tilley and Eulace Wallace and wife Julia of Mantua, OH; special sister-in-law, Phyllis Toody' Tilley; grandchildren: Tasha Walsh and Clay Greenwell, both of Mountain City, TN; Lon's special dog, who was his companion and friend, Bailey and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Tom Prater to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers and Active Pallbearers will be all of Lon's special family and friends. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 3980 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, TN.
