Offie A. Hayworth Jr., age 74, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 10, 1939 to the late Offie and Zonna Greene Hayworth Sr. and Oscar and Callie Hayworth. In addition to his parents, Offie was preceded in death by his sister, Drema Hayworth and infant sister, Billie Hayworth; brother, Carl Dean Hayworth and father and mother-in-law, Paul and Elsie Warren. Offie was a United States Army Veteran having served in Germany. He was former Scout Master for the Boy Scouts Troupe #24. Offie was an original member on the Board of Directors at Johnson County Bank in 1975. He served as County Commissioner for Johnson County for 10 years. Offie had also worked at Leco and Levi Strauss & Company for many years as a machinist. Offie and his wife Betty Sue, founded Johnson County Tire and Recapping and later established Hayworth Tire Centers with their sons. Offie was a member of Valley View United Methodist Church, where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher and later became a founding member of Victory Chapel Cowboy Church. He was a member of the Men for Missions Missionary and had made trips to South America, Spain and Mexico to assist in the building of churches. Offie was known by many for his horses and his love for them. He enjoyed teaching kids how to ride and proper horsemanship. He also enjoyed giving demonstrations with his Cutting Horses. Offie was very special to many people, but none more than his family. He loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren, whom who loved to spoil. Offie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Warren Hayworth: sons and daughters-in-law: Bryan and Cynthia Hayworth of Kingsport, TN, Kevin and Kimberly Hayworth of Mountain City, TN and Jeff Hayworth and Kristi McReynolds of Piney Flats, TN; grandchildren: Megan Adams and husband Matthew, Zack Hayworth and wife Brittany; Ty Hayworth, Austin Hayworth, Houston Hayworth, Kaylin Hayworth, Mason Hayworth, Luke Hayworth and Evan Hayworth; sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty Jane Severt of Greenville, TN, Ann and Nick Aievoli of Clayton, DE and Rita and Ray Johnston of Springfield, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Carroll and Eileen Hayworth and James and Gaye Hayworth, all of Mountain City, TN;; sisters-in-law: Mary Shoun and husband Pete and Martha Hayworth; several very special nieces and nephews and many special friends. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Victory Chapel Cowboy Church, Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, TN. Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Pierce, Pastor Sam Icenhour and Pastor Phyllis Hankins to officiate. Special Music will be provided by Ms. Janet Hodge and Kenneth and Phyllis Pierce. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard will follow from the Phillippi Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Nick Aievoli, Ray Johnston, Ronald Hayworth, Dearl Swift, Martin Herman, Carl Wiggins, Kuker Lee and Pete Shoun. Honorary Pallbearers are: Bill Brookshire, Ralph Stout, Wes and Sirrena Aldridge, Jim Hensley, Jake Lewis, Roy Adkins, Wayne Ward, George Lowe, Russ McCoy, Dwight Collins, Frank Simcox, Walter Simcox, Doran Swift, David Adams, Alfred Wilson, Members of the Middle TN Cutting Horse Association, Church Family of Victory Chapel Cowboy Church and Valley View United Methodist Church and all of Offie's many more special friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Offie's memory may be made to the Victory Chapel Cowboy Church Youth Group, 917 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, TN or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
