Mountain City Funeral Home 224 South Church Street Mountain City, TN 37683 Phone: (423) 727-9700 Fax: (423) 727-4410 Coy Spencer Bishop Coy Spencer Bishop, 80, of Lenoir passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bishop was born in Laurel Bloomery, TN to the late Jess Bishop and Lola Gentry Bishop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Marcus Bishop. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars and was a member of Whitnel First Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and was a Cub Scout leader. He loved bird watching, gardening, fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family and his great grandson. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Carolyn Sue Gentry Bishop of the home; his son Gregory Bishop of Lenoir; his daughter Darlene Bishop of Lenoir; his daughter-in-law Linda Taylor of Lenoir; his brother Norval Bishop and wife Jean of Lenoir; his sister Mary Pennington and husband Blaine of Lenoir; his grandchildren, J. D. Griffin, III, Amanda Griffin, Alexandria Westmoreland and Shelby Bishop; step-grandchildren, Regina Stuckey, Jerry Stuckey and Tyler Adams and a great grandson Aiden Griffin. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Whitnel First Baptist with Reverend Don Ingle, Reverend Stuart White and Reverend Ken Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mr. Bishop will lie in state at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. before lying in state at the church during the visitation. Serving as pallbearers will be J. D. Griffin, Blaine Pennington, Jr., Marty Pennington, David Griffin, Roger Taylor and Tyler Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Harrison and his "little buddy" Aiden Griffin. Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Coy Spencer Bishop.
