Joseph Carroll Munday

Joseph Carroll Munday, age 68, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Johnson County Community Hospital. He was born on December 29, 1944 to the late Joseph and Emeline South Munday. Carroll loved to be outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working with his hands and loved to work with wood. Carroll made many handmade knives for his family and friends. He liked to stay busy and was always making things. He was a former bus driver for the Applecart Transportation System of Boone, North Carolina. Carroll attended Sutherland Baptist Church. He is survived by his special friend, Geneva Woodard; ex-wife and mother of his children, Polly Richards of Wilkesboro, NC; sons: Rickey Munday of Vilas, NC and Derek Munday of West Jefferson, NC; sister, Wilma Johnson of Newton/Conover, NC; grandchildren, Justin Munday, Garrett Munday and Cody Munday; Geneva's children and Carroll's extended family: Gary Woodard, Ronnie Woodard, Shane Woodard, Connie Pendergraft and Gail Miller; several nieces and nephews and many, many special friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:0 0p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with T.J. Jackson to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Potter Cemetery, located on Snyder Branch Road, Creston, NC. Pallbearers will be Justin Munday, Cody Munday, Garrett Munday, Gary Woodard, Danny Johnson and James Potter. Honorary pallbearer is Ronnie Woodard.
