Mr. Shady Dean Blevins

Mr. Shady Dean Blevins, age 77, of Lansing, NC, passed away Thursday morning, August 15, 2013 at his home. Mr. Blevins was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, September 11, 1935 to the late Maxie and Mary Ann Francis Blevins. He retired from Thomasville Furniture. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved his animals. He also enjoyed watching the Atlantic Braves play. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Wood Blevins; two brothers, Lester Blevins and Wilmer Blevins; three sisters, Bertha Baldwin, Lillie Blevins and Ella Mae Blevins. Mr. Blevins is survived by two sons, Gerald Blevins and wife, Linda, of Laurel Bloomery, TN and Bobby Blevins and wife, Tammy, of Mountain City, TN; a daughter, Betty Blevins, of Warrensville, NC; two grandsons, Kevin Blevins and Justin Blevins, both of Mountain City, TN; three great-grandchildren, Kaden Blevins and Avery Blevins, both of Mountain City, TN and Trevor McQueen, of Shady Valley, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 8:00pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Greer, Rev. Jim Woods and Rev. Frank Woods officiating. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 2:00pm at Howell-Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Saturday, August 17, 2013 two hours prior to the funeral service. The family requests no food please!
