Jack Charles Hennings Sr.

Jack Charles Hennings, Sr., age 92, of Mountain City, Tennessee, died on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born on December 23, 1920, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Wallace & Hertha Herzberg Hennings. Jack was a decorated United States Navy Veteran, where he served honorably during World War II as a pilot. He earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses during the Battle of Midway. He was a Master Mason, one of six generations of the Hennings'families. Jack was an accomplished woodworker and carpenter. He designed and built his own homes in Mountain City and Destin, Florida. He owned a commercial cleaning company in Athens, Georgia, before living in Destin, Florida, and, then, Mountain City, TN., where he enjoyed the rest of his years. He is survived by his children: Gail Hennings Rentz of Atlanta, GA.,Jack C.Hennings, Jr. (wife, Debra) of San Clemente, California, Sam D. Hennings of Los Angeles , CA. , and David E. Hennings( wife, Maryann) of Los Angeles, CA. Grandchildren are Trey Rentz ( wife, Anita), J.Keith Hennings , Russell Hennings (wife, Christina), Brandon Hennings, Taylor Hennings, Madison Hennings, and, Great-Grandchildren, Halle & William Rentz, and, Matthew S. Hennings. It is Jack's wishes to be cremated, and, that no formal services be held. His family will honor him with private ceremonies in Atlanta and California.
