Burl Eugene Bryant

Burl Eugene Bryant, age 72, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 6, 2013 following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 16, 1941 to the late Sam and Beulah Michaels Bryant. In addition to his parents, Burl was preceded in death by his sisters: Sue Mains, Marie McElyea, Lizzie Crutchfield, Mae Eldreth and Betty Jennings and brothers: Willard Bryant, Carl Bryant and Earl Bryant. Burl worked fifteen years at Burlington Industries, eleven years at Maymead Block Plant, six years for Diversco and several years for Broyhill Furniture Factory. He was a member of Vaughts Gap Baptist Church. Burl enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce May Bryant; daughters: Evelyn Tester and husband Eddie of Mountain City, TN; Gail Bryant of Ashe County, NC and Bernice Tester of Mountain City, TN; sons: Bryan Bryant and fiancé Donna Eastridge of Mountain City, TN and Richard Bryant, also of Mountain City, TN; sister, Ann McElyea; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Burl will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastors Leon Bryant and Frank Johnson to officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service. Graveside Service & Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the May Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Poteet, Cody May, Jason May, Adam May, Wayne Mains, Shaland Tester, Phillip Dugger and Adam Winters. Honorary Pallbearers are Timothy Dunn, Joshua Hamby, Devin Hamby and Eric Tester. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 3052 Fall Branch Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
