Charles Dewey 'Bus' Maze

Charles Dewey Bus' Maze, age 82, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital of Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was born on February 17, 1931 to the late John and June Lee May Maze. In addition to his parents, Bus was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Gobble Maze; sisters: Barbara Maze Mason and Margaret Maze Cunningham; brothers: Harold Maze and Wiley Maze; brothers-in-law, Bill Shull and John R. Cunningham. Bus spent 28 years on the Mississippi River working for Southern Towing, where he was an Engineer. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Bus was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Steve Hartzog; sister, Thelma Maze Shull; brother and sister-in-law, John Maze Jr. and Sue; grandchildren: Megan Phillips, Amanda Mullins, Morgan Hartzog, Madison Hartzog; great grandchildren: Tatum and Vallie Mullins; sisters-in-law: Betty Maze, Lois Maze and Edith Canter; brothers-in-law, Bill Mason and Robert Gobble Jr.; several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Phillip Arnold officiating. Pallbearers will be John Shull, Aaron Shull, Chance Mullins, Scott Phillips, John Cunningham, Clyde Canter and Chuck Maze. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 104 Gambill Springs Lane, Mountain City, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bus' memory to the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road, Suite 6, PMB 321, Johnson City, TN 37604 Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com.
