Lillian Hawkins, age 91, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on September 15, 1922 to the late Richard Bruce' Sr. and Minnie Blanche Felts Hawkins. In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Gentry; brothers: Newton Hawkins, Richard Bruce Hawkins Jr., Willard Hawkins, Wilton Hawkins, Calvin Hawkins and half-brother, Walter Shoemake. Lillian worked many years at the Mountain City Shoe Plant. She loved to sew, especially quilting and enjoyed working outside in her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Lillian is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Deanna Hawkins McGinnis and husband Ted, and Dr. Carolyn Hawkins Brown and husband Bill; son and special daughter-in-law, Robert Steven Hawkins and wife Donna Widener Hawkins; sisters: Annis Gentry and Bonnie Icenhour; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Bonnie Hawkins; grandchildren: Dr. Sherri Brown, Tammy Hawkins Hardee, Sue Anne Hawkins, Carla McGinnis Gaydos, Evan McGinnis, Shelli McGinnis Johnson; great grandchildren: Briana Hardee, Olivia Hardee, Zachary Gaydos, Jacob Gaydos, Carson McGinnis, and Ethan Wilson, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tom Prater to officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Acre Field Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derrell Gentry, Bob Hardee, Jeff Johnson, Paul Blevins, Eric Taylor, Kenny Icenhour, Eric Wallace, Evan McGinnis and Eric Gaydos. Honorary pallbearer is Mr. Kerry Gentry. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations in Lillian's memory may be made to the Acre Field Cemetery, 1920 Gentry Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to Mary Brown, for her friendship and kindness and to the Staff of Mountain City Care Center for all of their support and care. At other times, the family will receive friends at the son's home, Steve Hawkins, 3591 Sugar Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.
