Layton Dollar

Layton Dollar, age 72, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on November 9, 1941 to the late Arie and Rose Dollar. In addition to his parents, Layton was preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Dollar and his special friend and father-in-law, Jim Winters. Layton attended First Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and studying his Bible whenever he could. He retired from Burlington Industries. Layton enjoyed being outdoors and loved to go fishing and work in his garden. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and riding his scooter. Layton in survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Winters Dollar; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Tad Morley of Shady Valley, TN; sons and daughters-in-law: David and Wendy Dollar of Mountain City, TN and Troy and Jenny Dollar of Butler, TN; sisters: Carol May, Sue Dollar and Libby Gobble; brothers: Bobby Dollar and Don Dollar; grandchildren: Cassandra Simpson, Brian Dollar, A.J. Dollar, Colby Dollar and Evan Dollar; great grandchildren: Ashton Dollar and Macensie Dollar; mother-in-law, Pearl Winters; special friend, Roy Funderburk and Lester Morley and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 from the First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Woods and Pastor Billy Poe Jones to officiate. Music will be provided by Clinton Winters and The Winters Family and the Walker Mountain Boys. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday, at the church. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Dyson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Blevins, Kevin Blevins, Clinton Winters, Michael Winters, Brian Dollar and A.J. Dollar. Honorary pallbearers are Tad Morley, Bruce Winters, Lane Miller, Lane Miller Jr. and Johnny Miller. The family wishes to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the Staff of Fresenius Dialysis Center for their kindness, care and friendship. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Layton's son, David, 862 Spear Branch Road, Mountain City, TN.
