Edwin Casey

Edwin R. Casey, age 78, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 following a lengthy illness. He was born September 29, 1935 to the late William Robert Casey and Jenny Eleanor Underwood Casey. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy Mutter Casey and a sister, Phyllis Byers. Ed proudly worked in law enforcement most of his life. He was a police officer in Washington, DC for many years and after moving to Johnson County he served as county investigator and was later elected Sheriff of Johnson County. Ed was a United States Army Veteran. Ed loved being outdoors and socializing. A few of his favorite hobbies included playing golf, going fishing and hunting and just generally being outdoors. Ed was a devoted father who loved his family and friends very much. He cared deeply for all of those close to him. Ed is survived by his daughters and son-in-law: Brenda Lynn Thomas and Peggy Sue and Kenneth Acton; sons and daughter-in-law: Danny and Carolyn Casey and Ronnie Casey; sisters: Judy Willard, Mary Miller, Dorothy Mustang and Iona Wolfe; brothers: Tom Casey and wife Peggy, Bill Casey Jr. and wife Karen and Rodney Casey and wife Pam; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many special friends. Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastors Ted Lewis and Leonard Fletcher officiating. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Reece Memorial Cemetery and will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Danny Casey Sr., Ronnie Casey, Danny Casey Jr., Ernie Adams, David Adams, Kenneth Acton and Aaron Longas. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home.
