Wayne Gorsline, age 69, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on May 28, 1944 to the late Bob and Lucille Pennington Gorsline. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Miller Gorsline and a daughter, Connie Sue Gorsline. Wayne had worked for the Johnson County Highway Department for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and especially enjoyed cutting firewood. He also enjoyed raising chickens and collecting knives. Wayne loved spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Walton; sons and daughter-in-law: Steve and Kim Gorsline and Larry Gorsline; grandchildren: Christina Key and husband Josh, Brandon Johnson, Stephen Gorsline and Kaitlyn Gorsline; step grandchild, Kenneth Pennington; great grandchildren: Constance Key, Brandon Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Madison Johnson and Matthew Johnson; his cat, Smokey; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Minister Johnny Davis to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Stateline Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roger Morefield, Kenneth Pennington, Darrell Guy, Stephen Gorsline, Daniel Guy and Tyler Yarber. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Gorsline and Ron McGuigan. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home 646 Dry Branch Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN or at the home of a granddaughter, 8107 Hwy 91, Lot #11, Laurel Bloomery, TN.
