George W. Hodge George W. Hodge, age 78, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday June 7, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Johnson County on February 22, 1936 to the late Stacey Edgar Hodge and Jessie Vaught Hodge. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother Stacey Edgar Hodge, Jr; and a half-brother Jerry Younce. George worked at Mountain City Glove for many years and later worked on the farm with Steve. He enjoyed sawmill work. George enjoyed being with his family and visiting with his friends at the store and he will truly be missed. He was a member of Vaughts Gap Baptist Church. George is survived by two sons: Steve Hodge and wife Sandra of Mountain City, and Tim Hodge and wife Denette of Mountain City; Special Friend of 27 years, Ann Eggers of Trade, Sister Mary Lou Neatherly, grandchildren: Jeremy Hodge and Charley Leonard and husband Adam, one great grandson Tanner Leonard; niece Sandra Goode and husband David and great-nephews Austin Goode and John Goode, and George's special friends at Neva General and Roan Valley Market. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Vaughts Gap Baptist Church with Pastors Chuck Morefield and Frank Johnson to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside Service and interment will follow from the Hodge Cemetery (Sandy Rd.). Pallbearers will be Dennis Tester, Bob Garland, Bill Moody, Larry Eggers, Gary Eggers, Tyler Wilcox, Dalton Wilcox, David Goode, Adam Leonard and Austin Goode. Honorary Pallbearers are Buddy Slemp, Ed Perkins, Jimmy Tester, Buster Brown, D. L. Brown, Coleman Brown, Jeremy Hodge, Russell Lewis, Deacons of Vaughts Gap Baptist Church, and his store friends from Neva General and Roan Valley Market. At other times, friends may call at the home of Steve Hodge, 152 Sandy Road, Mountain City, TN 37683 or at the home of Tim Hodge, 710 W. Main St. Apt 1, Mountain City, TN 37683.
