Arlie Spencer Mains

Arlie Spencer Mains, age 81, of Trade, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the home of his daughter following an extended illness. He was born on April 12, 1933 in Ashe County, NC to the late Wise and Florence Miller Mains. In addition to his parents, Arlie was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Velma Dean Mains, who passed away on October 3, 2013; sisters: Betty Moody and infant sister, Elizabeth Mains and brother, Andrew Mains. Arlie was a proud life time farmer who took great pride in his work. He had worked at the Shoe plant in Boone, NC and the Vermont American plant in Boone, NC. Arlie enjoyed looking for arrowheads. He was always helping someone and loved being with family and friends. Arlie was a member of the Church of Deliverance. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in Korea. Arlie is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Cathy Diane Pickett and husband Kenny, Jane Ellen Roark and husband Eddie, Pam Isaacs and husband Greg, Sharon Corum and husband Chad and Karen 'Cabbie' McClure and husband Randy; son, Spencer Ray Mains; sisters: Della Rae South, Ella Mae Lewis, Virginia Rhea and Georgia Cornett; brothers: James Alvin Mains and Squire Mains; grandchildren: Jessica Knight Britani Mains, Jeremy Mains, Biancia Lambert, Matthew Lambert, Pamela Blevins, Christie Roark, Dacota Mains, Tenessia Isaacs Hayes, Devan Corum, Dustin Snyder, Joshua McClure and Jada McClure; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bruce Miller and Brother Spencer Roark to officiate. Special music will be provided by Dollar Boys & Randy Smith. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Mains-Potter Cemetery, located on Snyder Branch Road, Creston, NC. Pallbearers will be: Devan Corum, Dustin Snyder, Chad Corum, Randy McClure, Greg Isaacs, Jesus Garcia, Travis Mains and Mathew Lambert. Honorary Pallbearers are Dan Roark, Steve Roark, Isaiah Blevins and Hayden Phillips.
