Beverly Ann Rutter

Beverly Forrester Rutter, of Blountville, TN and formerly of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on September 30, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was 71 years of age having been born September 14, 1943. Beverly was a graduate of Johnson County High School and graduated in 1978 from East Tennessee State University with a degree in nursing. She was a knowledgeable and caring nurse for 36 years and worked at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky and the Bristol Surgery Center. In addition to her dedication to the nursing profession, she also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, browsing for antiques and traveling. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Forrester, Mountain City, Tennessee and her beloved son, Christopher Todd Mahan. She is survived by her devoted husband of 25 years, Jack Rutter, Blountville, Tennessee; two daughters, Susie Mahan Jennings and husband, Jesse, Church Hill, Tennessee; and Teresa Mahan Lesnak and husband, Thomas, Blountville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Kendall Thomas and partner, Justin Harbour, Katherine Lesnak, Nicholas Lesnak, Rebecca Lesnak and Bailey Jennings. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters, including one special sister, Lois Forrester Wright and husband, Paul, Mountain City, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. Per Beverly's wishes, there will be a two hour visitation with no service to follow. Visitation will be Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Akard Funeral Home, Bristol, Tennessee. Her burial will be at the Phillippi Cemetery in Mountain City, Tennessee at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014.
