Randolph "Randy" Gene Stout, age 73, passed away Friday October 3, 2014 at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, FL. He was born on March 14, 1941 in Butler, Tennessee to Joseph Parker and Bernice Greenwell Stout. He attended East Tennessee State University before moving to Gainesville in 1960 to work for Sperry Rand Corporation. Drafted in 1966, he served in the Army for two years before returning to Gainesville. After graduating from the University of Florida in 1971, he began a long career in the printing business until his death. He was well known in the Gainesville soccer community as a coach, referee, and organizer where he received numerous awards. Randy also served for more than ten years as the Area Five Chairman of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a position where he advocated on the behalf of activated Guard and Reserve service members. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Cress Stout of Gainesville, FL; son Roderick R. (Linda) Stout of Satellite Beach, FL; son Justin M. Stout of Wesley Chapel, FL; grandchildren Lana and Ryker Stout of Satellite Beach, FL; and brother Archie Dean Stout of Columbus, GA. A Memorial Service will be conducted Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Rev. Rhonda Cummings and Rev. Dawn Conti officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Boulevard, Gainesville, FL 32606.
