Clay Neil Blevins

Clay Neil Blevins, age 86, of Shady Valley, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 17, 1928 to the late Dennis O. Blevins and Ethel McNeil Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Nancy Blevins, Margie Reeves, Peggy Dugger and Conna Lee Blevins and one brother, W.F. Blevins. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and continued farming until his death. Clay was a United States Air Force Veteran. Clay loved farming, his family and church. He was known by everyone in the community, especially for his willingness to help others in time of need. He was known for his patience. When something would break down and the day's routine would be changed - he always took everything in stride and kept everything in perspective, realizing that the important things in life were family and relationships with friends and when those things were good, all the rest was secondary. Clay was a member of the Stoney Creek Church of Christ and served as elder at Crandull Church of Christ for many years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Tomlinson Blevins; three children: Mike Blevins and wife Kim, Phil Blevins and wife Gloria and Jennie Eller and husband Kenny; seven grandchildren: Emily Tubbs and husband Josh, Sarah Blevins, Katie Curd and husband Justin, Lexi Ramey and husband Chad, Houston Eller, Colton Eller and Beth Blevins; two precious great grandchildren: Aaron Curd and Cash Ramey; five brothers: Ned, Bob, Kenneth, Leon and Forrest Blevins as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Crandull Church of Christ with Ministers Tracy Dugger and Wesley Simons to officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Blevins Cemetery of Shady Valley, TN.
