Richard Ivan Bennett

Richard Bennett, age 94, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on September 29, 1920 to the late John Bennett. In addition to his father, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Helen G. Bennett, who passed away on August 15, 2013; three sisters; one brother and one grandchild, April Hernandez. Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren. Richard was a very generous, kind and giving man. He also had a special love for animals. Richard was a United States Army Veteran and honorably served during World War II and the Normandy Invasion. He was a recipient t of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Thompson; son, James Richard Bennett and wife Peggy Sue; adopted daughter, Deborah Zerbe-Beltran; grandchildren: Patricia English, Tina Cochran, Richard Thompson and James Bennett; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
