Jerry Dean Pearson On Friday, November 7, 2014, Jerry Dean Pearson, age 71, of Butler, TN passed from the arms of his family into the arms of his heavenly Father at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Ruby Pearson. He leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory his family, dear friend and mother of his children Mildred, his son Alan and wife Mindy, daughter Miranda Montgomery and husband Rick; grandchildren Katlin, Taylor, Allie, Alec, Faith, Amber, MaKayla and Katie; brother Billy Pearson and wife Lorean, sisters Paulette Norris, Ann Wolfe, Debra Greenwell and husband Jim, Reta Presnell and husband Jay; several nieces and nephews also survive. Jerry is remembered for his love of God, his family and his country and was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. He is known for his devout patriotism and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was deployed in Operation Desert Storm with the 776th Maintenance Company. Jerry retired as a Staff Sergeant after 21 years of service having earned many honors and commendations. A graduate of Johnson County High School, he was an expert upholsterer having worked in the furniture industry in Hickory and Boone, NC as well as independently. Jerry retired from Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City, TN. Services for Jerry D. Pearson will be held at Sugar Grove Baptist Church with Minister Ray Greene officiating on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Music will be provided by Joel Norris and Ray Don Markland: Active pallbearers are Alan Pearson, Rick Montgomery, Jim Greenwell, Jamie Pass, Dave Fletcher, and Chris Potter; Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry's family and many friends. Military rites will be accorded by Johnson County Honor Guard. The family wishes to thank Pastor Alan Koch and their church family for the many thoughts and prayers during Jerry's illness. The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Jerry's special caregiver, Vanessa Potter, as well as Amedisys Home Hospice Services, Dr. Anna Gilbert and team, C Ground Nursing Staff and the Hospice and Palliative Care team at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center for their expert and compassionate care for Jerry.
