Marie T. " Nanny " Widener, age 85, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born on June 10, 1929 to the late James Kilby and Rose Mabe Kilby. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Widener; daughter, Peggy Widener; and several sisters and brother. Marie loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens and enjoyed being outside. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great- grandchildren very much and will be truly missed. Marie was a special Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and "Nanny" to everyone in the community. She was a member of Stateline Baptist Church, where she was the Nursery Teacher for 25 years. Nanny is survived by her daughters and sons-in- law: Jean Gentry and husband Derrell and Donna Hawkins and husband Steve ; sons and daughters-in-law: Larry "Wormy" Widener and wife Cindy and Mickey Widener and wife Mary Kim; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild on the way; sisters: Dorothy Kulin, Belva Phipps and Edna Bowlin; brother, Coy Ray Kilby,, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Icenhour to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 6, 2014 from the Stateline Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Payne, Greg Payne, Jack Pennington, Mike Lewis, Barney Mahala, Richard Eller, Michael Morefield and Tyler Yarber. Honorary Pallbearers are Stacy Greer, Gerald Blevins and Dave Pennington. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials in Marie's memory may be made to the Stateline Baptist Church in care of Mike Morefield, 1151 Sugar Creek Rd., Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680.
