Elsie O. Laws, age 86, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on April 3, 1928 to Calvin and Sara Edna Brewer Church. In addition to her parents Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Fred Laws; daughter, Glenda Sue Smith; sons-in laws: Roger Dean Riddle and Dean Morefield; two sisters and four brothers. Elsie loved her family and she enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed her garden and flowers and watching them grow. Christmas was her favorite time of year. Elsie tried to live each day according to God's word and was considered by all those who knew her as a fine Christian lady. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters: Peggy Laws and husband Doug of Butler, TN; Phyllis Morefield of Laurel Bloomery, TN, and Mary Riddle of Mountain City, TN; son-in-law, Raymond ( R.V. ) Smith of Butler, TN; sister-in-law, Faye Laws; grandchildren: Holly Morefield and husband Brian, Chris Morefield and wife Trish, Kristy Wolfe and husband Jason, Tim Laws; great grandchildren: Amber Laws, Abby Laws, Ryan Morefield, Tyler Morefield, Alli Morefield, Luke Wolfe; special sister-in-law, Betty Church, and special friend, Leta Lewis. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Midway Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg Thompson to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the Rock Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Morefield, Jason Wolfe, Chris Morefield, Ryan Morefield, Tyler Morefield, Tim Laws, R.V. Smith and Greg Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers are Doug Laws, Luke Wolfe and Dr. Jim Shine. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Elsie's memory to Midway Baptist Church, 4408 Little Dry Run Road, Butler, TN 37640. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of daughter, Peggy Laws, 3564 Little Dry Run Road, or granddaughter, Kristy Wolfe, 206 Meal Camp Road, both of Butler, TN.
