Pearl A. Sturgill

Pearl A. Sturgill, age 87, of Evington, VA and formerly of Mountain City, TN and Portsmouth, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Runk and Pratt Assisted Living, 20212 Leesville Rd., Lynchburg, VA. She was born on June 11, 1927 in Konnarock, Washington County, VA to the late John H. Blevins and Mary Jane Blevins. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Archie B. Sturgill, son, David Sturgill, and his wife Sheila. She was the last surviving child of John H. and Mary Jane Blevins. After Pearl and Archie were married they moved to Portsmouth, VA area and then moved to Mountain City, Johnson County in 1974. She was a member of the Johnson County Republican Women's Club. She was a member of the Alexander Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA and attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Mountain City. Pearl is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Paul Sturgill and wife, Donna, of Evington, VA, one grandson, Adam Brett Sturgill of Lynchburg, VA, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Woods officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am -12:00 noon prior to the funeral service. The committal service and interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jim Blevins, John Blevins, John Sawyers, Hervey Stricklin, John Dancer, and Frank McCoy. Honorary pallbearer will be Ricky Huffman.
