Betty Jo Johnson Fritts, age 82, of Hwy 421 N., Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at her home. She was born on October 18, 1932 to the late Walter Wynn Johnson and Nola Mae Phillippi Johnson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Spencer Fritts; daughter, Linda Gaye Howard; sister, Mary Ann Johnson Winters; brother, Charles Johnson; son-in-law, Sammy Crosswhite, and nephew, Paul Johnson, Jr. (Bunzie). Betty enjoyed working outside in her flower beds and gardens. She had a love for animals, especially her dogs and cats. She loved to visit the Mountain Home National Cemetery where her husband is laid to rest and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her daughters: Peggy Fritts Humphrey and husband Richard of Mountain City, TN and Brinda Kay Howard Crosswhite of Laurel Bloomery, TN; sons: Johnny Ray Howard and wife Brenda of Greenville, TN and Michael Eugene Howard of Laurel Bloomery, TN; brother, Paul E. Johnson, Sr; sister, Shirley Jean Johnson Mabe; grandchildren: Cody Brown-Dunn, Melissa Crosswhite Robinson, Steve Crosswhite and Jessica Howard; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Forrester, Westin Smith, Jakob Crosswhite and Savannah Crosswhite; special niece, Susan Williams and several other nieces and nephews; special friends: Angie Reece Nelson, Lori Hensley Blevins, Malena Cornett Jones, Donna Porter, Cheryl Lindsey and extra special friend, Joan. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 3:30 p.m. with Pastors Billy Morefield and Ron Drake to officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at the Family Cemetery - Phillippi. Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary McElyea, Jerry Cress, Puddy Pardue, Mac Williams, Mark Buchanan and Bud Swift. Honorary pallbearers are Dean Heaton, Cody Dunn, Hunter Buchanan, Travis Jones, Jim Bragg, Josh Cornett, Chris Hux and Bunzie Johnson and Sammy Crosswhite. Memorials may be made in Betty's memory and Bunzie's memory to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group, c/o Flo Bellamy, 3510 Hwy 421 N., Mountain City, TN 37683.
