Opal D. 'Granny' Lewis

. Opal D. Granny' Lewis, age 75, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at her residence. She was born on July 17, 1939 to the late Glen T. and Bertie Allen Price. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Forrester and brothers: Charlie Price and Jack Price. Opal was a former employee of Levi Strauss. Following retirement, Opal continued working as a caregiver for several elderly people. She loved to raise a garden and enjoyed caning. Opal enjoyed life and made the most of every day and loved to have fun. She especially loved to spend time with her family. Opal was a member of State Line Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Earl Lewis; daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Gary Henson and Wanda and Jerry Greer; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra Kay and Junior Barrett; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bruce and Purdie Mae Price, Dennis and Sharon Price and Gerald and Martha Price; grandchildren: Joshua Price and fiancé Michelle Proffitt, and Shawna Greer and fiancé Jeffrey Buchner; great grandchildren: Olivia Dixon, Helen Dixon, Ryan Smith and Emma Smith; special niece, Joanie Lowe; special sister-in-law, Hilda Lewis and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Icenhour officiating. Music will be provided by Ms. Sandy Brown. Graveside Service and Interment will follow from the West Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Price, Gary Henson, Jerry Greer, Jeffrey Buchner, Wayne Taylor and Denny Price. Honorary pallbearers are Glen Forrester and Dr. Donald Walters. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Opal's memory to the State Line Baptist Church, 3409 Sugar Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN 37680. The family will receive friends at the home, 263 Ed Wilson Ln, Mountain City, TN 37683. Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.mountaincityfh.com.
